Taiwan has food very similar to China. You might say that the two countries are almost identical at least in terms of food. Almost any kind of food that you can find in China, you can find in Taiwan. I loved traveling around Taiwan and eating the food. You can get street food for very cheap there.

You might want to experiment with different foods that you have never tried while in Taiwan. Taiwan is actually the first place I ever ate chicken feet, at the suggestion of my friend, and it turns out that they are actually tasty.
As for food in Greater China vs Chinese food outside of Greater China, in my opinion, I think you will prefer the original Chinese food, within Greater China. If you are a food purist, then definitely authentic-style Chinese food is what you should eat. There are so many different variations of Chinese food around the world, but if you want to know what Chinese should really taste like, go to Greater China and taste for yourself. If nothing else, eating authentic Chinese food will broaden your food horizons.
